At times, this film seems to be sparkling, just like the champagne that is served in the beautiful seventeenth century castle, which is the stunning background of the story.

Alas, amusing, engaging scenes alternate with long passages that are not as rewarding...not by a long shot.
The actors participating in this fiesta are nevertheless so good that we keep watching.

Otherwise, with 117 minutes to spend in front of the screen, in an age with such short fuses and attention spans, the viewers would abandon th feature long before its conclusion.
There is a hectic effort to keep together the team, the food, music and everything else for a wedding between unlikely consorts.

The bride is as gentle and charming as one can be, but the groom...
God Almighty!

This lucky bastard is one of the most obnoxious antiheroes, of the rather harmless sort.
I mean he is not Dr. Strange love or Darth Vader.

But his speech goes on for hours!
He is rude, fussy and arrogant with each and everyone, except his spouse, who is anyway such an angelic creature that nobody could argue with her.

There's Justice of a kind.
This groom has prepared a kind of acrobatic, aerial dance and when the ropes are loosened, the revolting man flies away, without controls.

Although good, this comedy is not the best that the French cinema can offer, but...
