I am not crazy about the films of Melissa McCarthy, but this is one is mind blowing, and it is worth being in a myriad of forgettable comedies, if one leaves behind something like this, deep, amusing and sad...

Melissa McCarthy is Lee Israel in this motion picture and she proves she can do wonders, the main character is both iluminating and rather hard to bear, she is a sociopath, living alone with her cat, for as long as that is possible

She loses her means of subsitence, the rent is behind for some months – and there is already a correction for the above, for she had been nice to the mother of the supervizor and thus she can enjoy some leniance

She has a multitude of flies, but when she gets the visit of an extreminator, the fellow is crushed by the awful smell and declares he will come back once the place is cleaned, and that will take a comedy of horrors

Under the bed, there are piles of, well, shit, for this lady does not have an ineterst in caring for herself much, it may be tempting to speculatethat abandoned by the world, she feels ready to let her be, in whatever manner that is easiest

She has had a relationship with a woman she is lesbian, albeit let us think of the Co-Winner of The Booker Prize for 2019, Girl, Woman, Other http://realini.blogspot.com/2022/06/girl-woman-other-by-bernardine-evaristo.html

The author, Bernardine Evaristo, explains that genre is a lie of civilization (or something to this effect, or maybe this is just what i think i remeber) and we have Two-Spirit, non genre, and gender fluidity, our sex can change from one minute to the other

The connection between Lee Israel and her companion had been severed becasue the latter had wanted Lee to bond with her other freinds, go out, and then as we can see that is next to impossible for the protagonist

Since she also has to care for the cat, who is sick, she has to find a way to make some money, if it were only for herslef, maybe she would not care, judging from that pile of feces and the smell, which witnesses say was atrocious...

She happens to find while reading in the library or the archives osme precious note form a celebrity, she steals it, then sells it to the shops that buy and then put on display for collectors memorabilia from the famous and powerful

When Lee sees the finacial success of the sale, which brought some hundreds of dollars, she understands that she can use her skill to continue in this path, by impersonating dead people and offering ‚their’ letters.

She will have a passionate monologue at one point, where the emotions, the humor, tragedy of that fate are memorable and it is just one of so many scenes, indeed, another correction, the whole film is fabulous...

She maintains that she is a ‚better celebrity than the celebrity herself’ – i forgot who it was she mentioned in that line, something we could google, but who is to bother, it is not crucial anyhow, and there is humor and pain here

One special, magnetic if also tragic personage is Jack Hock (with a big cock he claims) portrayed by the mesmerizing, exrtravangant, exhilarating Richard E Grant, admired in Whithnail & I, one of the best comedies ever...

Actually, Withnail & I http://realini.blogspot.com/2017/08/withnail-i-written-and-directed-by.html was listed by Time Out as the Number One comedy and i strongly recommend that you see it, what am I saying, you must look for it

Jack Hock is a homosexual man with a penchant for philandering, this will get him into trouble, after one brief encounter, he did not have the money to pay and he got beaten, coming to Lee’s flat to get some help

He is aging, shows his receding hair line, does not have a stable income or residence, when asked by Lee about his address, he gives a few locations, evidence that he does not really live anywhere, not in a stable home anyway

Seeing as they are both broke, and Jack had had entagemnts with the law, he used to shop lift, had a method whereby the took an empty toothpaste recipeint to the store, took the full one form the box and instered the mepty shell inside, insisting that this is win –win, to which Lee retorts ‚what about the shop owenr’

The connection between the two is not romantic, they both prefer their own sex, but with the inevitable nadir, they still impress the audience as two lonely people, finding some support in each other...

Now for a question, and invitation – maybe you have a good idea on how we could make more than a million dollars with this http://realini.blogspot.com/2022/02/unique-in-world.html?q=unique+in+the+world   – as it is, this is a unique technique, which we could promote, sell, open the Oscars show with or something and then make lots of money together, if you have the how, I have the product, I just do not know how to get the befits from it, other than the exercise per se

As for my role in the Revolution that killed Ceausescu, a smaller Mao, there it is http://realini.blogspot.com/2022/03/realini-in-newsweek-participant-in.html

From To The Heritage:

‘Fiction is infinitely preferable to real life. As long as you avoid the books of Kafka or Beckett, the everlasting plot of fiction has fewer futile experiences than the careless plot of reality. Fiction's people are fuller, deeper, cleverer, more moving than those in real life…Its actions are more intricate, illuminating, noble, profound…There are many more dramas, climaxes, romantic fulfillment, twists, turns, gratified resolutions…Unlike reality, all of this you can experience without leaving the house or even getting out of bed…What's more, books are a form of intelligent human greatness, as stories are a higher order of sense…As random life is to destiny, so stories are to great authors, who provided us with some of the highest pleasures and the most wonderful mystifications we can find…Few stories are greater than Anna Karenina, that wise epic by an often foolish author…’

‚parturiunt montes, nascetur ridiculus mus’

“the Meaning of Life...Well, it's nothing very special. Try and be nice to people, avoid eating fat, read a good book every now and then, get some walking in, and try and live together in peace and harmony with people of all creeds and nations.”
