This documentary is stupendous!
Phenomenal, outstanding, quintessential, marvelous and the list could continue.

Bill Maher, an influencer that I admire and follow on YouTube, has recommended Active Measures and has invited the writer-director on his Real Time show last week.
The film details and explains what happened during the 2016 American elections and before that.

We find about the connections between the Trump organization- perhaps we should think more in terms of organized crime group- and the Russian state and Mafia, which are apparently linked, if not ultimately the same thing.
We see footage that has been on the news networks before, but compiled together in this feature they become so much more compelling.

The rise of the new czar, from the ranks of the former KGB, with the formula:
In the Soviet Union they had the organized crime state, that became dezorganized unde Yeltsin and then again organized crime under Putin.
All the oligarchs have become lap dogs of the despot, or they had to flee and hide.

Opponents are killed, in a gruesome manner, with Polonium in the case of Litvinenko, jailed or poisoned with Novitchock, as in the most recent attack on a former agent and his daughter, in the United Kingdom.
One scary and somewhat funny moment has the tyrant asking all the business people to sign a document and calling Deripaska to order!

The latter would become one of the partners - shall we say in crime  - of the orange puppet now sitting in a White House.
The terrible acumen of the narcissistic Donald would have him fail at a business where he blundered spectacularly, the casino in New Jersey.

After filing for multiple bankruptcies, the preposterous man was rejected by all banks except one with strange ties to Russia.
His own daughter talks about her father saying that the beggar in the street is eight billion dollars better off that the stable genius, who had accumulated disastrous debts.

The director-writer and others in the film talk about what is needed for the Russians to flip someone:

MICE...Money, Ideology, Compromise, Ego

Trump was susceptible on three counts and the money were offered, the ego was praised and they say that the golden shower is just a small part, for there were other disgusting, horrifying acts taking place in hotels in Russia.
John McCain is one of those invited for interviews and he mentions the awkward elimination of the statement of support for the Ukraine from the Republican Convention that confirmed Trump as their candidate.

The ridiculous man has consistently shown nothing but admiration and subservience for Putin, while attacking everyone else, allies, FBI, Even Hollywood figures and journalists.
The conclusion is ever more evident after watching this superb, if really disturbing documentary:

The enticements have included money, compromising material and the satisfying of that sick ego.

The line up of advisers and aides is well known and we get more background information:

James Woolsey, former CIA director, tells the audience about how he was offered to lead the agency again, but under Michael Flynt.
Then he continues with the preparations these thugs were making to deliver the man who opposes Erdogan to the Turks- an illegal and vicious move.

James Woolsey refused the offer.
The Russian attacks on Georgia are exposed, with the horrific violence they used the and then in the Ukraine.

The position of this terrible regime is explained, with the small resources it has, but concentrated as Mikhail Saakhashvili explains, would do a lot of damage.

They hack into the election systems, stealing we must call it, as a former American Ambassador to Russia makes clear!
The confusion created by using Facebook and launching all manner of fake news, misinformation purporting that Hilary Clinton did this or that malicious act, while the stupid Donald did amazing, positive things is well known.

Russia is bent on creating fissures within NATO and other organizations that it sees as threatening, making citizens of democratic countries skeptical and untrustworthy, disabused with their leaders and ultimately democracy itself.
Trump has been very active in doing the work of Putin.

As one of the guests puts it:

Russia just punched you in the face, by stealing, coming into your house and stealing...the elections he means.
You can't go to the one who has just punched you in the face and make concessions.

Which is what this Russian puppet keeps repeating:

Getting along with Russia is a good thing

Not when they invade the eastern part of the Ukraine, steal elections, kill people in the UK, promote false news and establish a network of influencers that seem to be in the tens of thousands in the US alone, according to James Woolsey.
Even if Russia does not matter economically, it's GDP is smaller than Italy's, it's despot appears to be the richest man on the planet and...the most powerful...

Seeing as he has Trump in his pocket.
