Holmes & Watson, written and directed by Etan Cohen
6 out of 10

This film may have the worst rating I have ever seen.

The Metascore, which looks at critics notes and presents an average, stands at an incredible 24 out of 100!

While the public at large has been a bit more compassionate and gave it...3.4 out of 10.
This is terrible and made worse by the knowledge that a tremendous cast has worked in vain for this spectacular failure.

Ralph Fiennes may have caused more smiles in The English Patient - not his fault, this is the terrible material he had to work with and this comparison was a paraphrase, using the joke made by Ricky Gervais at one of the Golden Globes he has hosted...

The comedian was sardonic on the issue of some failed comedy and he said something along the lines of...

Schindler's List was funnier than what was it, not The Tourist, mocked repeatedly, but some other flop.

Will Ferrell, such a talented comedian, exaggerates here to the point of annoying the audience.
John C. Reilly as Watson seems more reasonable, but all within a catastrophe of biblical proportions.
Kelly Macdonald, Rebecca Hall, Steve Coogan and evidently Hugh Laurie have seen not just better days, but it feels like experts in quantum physics, those who should explain the time matter ambivalence and interchange, the fact that particles may sense each other, are called here to clean the toilets.

It is not a degrading job, probably, someone has to do it, but it was only in the Soviet Union, The NDRK, China and other dictatorships that they took the best scientists to work the fields in Siberia.

Much of the humor is missing, of course, and when attempts are made to make the public laugh, they veer into obscenity and nauseating scenes, like the one with the cake in which a corpse is hidden, blood is pouring and the arrogant, preposterous, excessive Holmes is delighted to eat and taste the blood which he takes for jam or some other thing.

To end on as positive a note as possible for this disaster, the only few lines that are amusing and somewhat educational are connected with Trump.

Holmes tries various hats and one has Make Britain Great Again.
Then there is a dialogue about the flawed British system, where a monarch is self centered, while in America the best democracy in the world, things are so much better.

Only they have produced a lamentable, ridiculous, stupid, narcissistic in a degree where doctors and special care are required man and furthermore, a catastrophic eighty two percent of republicans approve of Jim and want this monster re - elected.

That scenario is much worse than Holmes & Watson.
