This film has been awarded N astounding number of 24 prizes.
Not so miraculous if you like it, as members of festival juries have evidently did.
If I remember well, among the shindigs was the Cayman Islands International Film Festival, not exactly Cannes.
Ultimately, I guess this would be very subjective.
Beauty and the eye of the beholder.
Yours truly has found almost nothing to cherish in this motion picture, but I must be wrong considering all those awards.
The performance of the actress in the leading role, that of Fall, is unconvincing to say the least.
There is something awkward, unappealing there.
However, she is Meryl Streep when we compare her acting to that of her partner, Jesse Pepe, playing Adam.
This young actor may be very good, but in this forgettable film, he is artificial, over the top and it seems that an unprofessional cousin of mine would do a much better job with the part.
Speaking of which, it is true that the storyline is rather bizarre and probably difficult to believe in and hence even more tenuous to play the characters.
Adam is a musician forced to sell his keyboard.
Fall is the older woman who offers to buy it for one hundred dollars, if he takes the instrument to her home.
There is a little suspense when this trip takes forever and I was wondering if this is not some mad woman who has no intention to pay and would just take the young man to the end of the coastline, maybe in Acapulco.
He is worried, but they reach a nice sailboat where the woman resides.
She would then tell her story.
How she had to choose when her husband died between her house and the boat, as she could not afford both.
The origin of her name: her father had poetic tastes.
They get very close together, even if due to poor acting and probably a flawed script there is a sense that something is wrong.
At least for this cinephile it was.
So why go on with this note?
You can take the better, mainstream opinion that has acclaimed this small movie or take my advice and seek for another, better motion picture.
