Father of the Bride II, by Nancy Meyers - 7 out of 10

Father of the Bride II, by Nancy Meyers
7 out of 10

Father of the Bride, the original with Spencer Tracy is remarkable.

When made again with Steve Martin, it is amusing, if not as exceptional as the first version.
Now that there is a sequel, the joy of watching it diminishes.

Dramatically.

Plus, or is it minus, there is the rather, or totally, preposterous premise that both wife and daughter of The Father of the Bride are pregnant.
And if this is not enough, they will give birth at the same time.

Yes, many glorious comedies have far fetched or quite impossible plots:

Dr. Strangelove or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb is somewhat self explanatory in its title, as regards the plot.
Monty Python's Life of Brian has an incredible starting point and main theme...

Well, if billions embrace the story of Jesus,  his birth, miracles and family history, then Brian is just the ultimate offense, but not an incredible story.
At least, I find Brian more credible in his exploits than JC.

As for the Father of the Bride II, it is not in the same league with the aforementioned films, among the best ten ever made.
To add to the miracle of simultaneous birth, in the same family, George aka Steve Martinis knocked out by the pills he takes from Franck, the one who gives zest, humor, eccentricity to the first part, but does not have enough material to be consequential in the sequel.

Which is a forgettable feature.
Perhaps instantly so.
