This is a memorable motion picture about conflict, running from war, facing adversity and trauma.
Columbia is at the top of the charts, as far as I know, in terms of displaced people, casualties of the exhausting, calamitous civil war that it's government had had to wage against the FARC and other guerrilla groups that have now signed on to peace, albeit FARC has, but not all the others.
Amparo has had to flee this war with her son, Fabio, who is just nine and her daughter, Nuria, who is twelve.
They try to take refuge on an island on the Amazon, placed at the border between Columbia, Brazil and Peru.
Most of the inhabitants take pride in their island and their relative isolation and independence from the he three surrounding countries.
When a project for a casino is presented, many do not like the idea of selling their homes, even if the investment is supposed to create jobs and eventually bring prosperity.
One farmer boasts about the fact that the crops feed not only the island, but also the village nearby.
The president of the association is not favorable to the idea of allowing the fugitive from the war to settle on the island.
Furthermore, when she tries to find a job, the heroine finds that she would have to stay in the water and fish...
The protagonist and the public are presented with a wide variety of species of fish, this being the greatest River on earth, each with its own technique of catching...with spears, harpoons or by hand.
Because she has a phobia of the river which borders on an allergy, the heroine declares she cannot fish.
She would do anything else!
To prove it, she takes on her back some heavy sacks, which are ordinarily carried by men.
The supervisor is amazed and warns her, talking of the perils for her back pains.
A compassionate, emotional motion picture.
